Blackboard Update
As of late Wednesday afternoon Sept. 2, Blackboard was still exhibiting intermittent performance problems. Both BU staff and Blackboard are actively working to diagnose the problem. There may be periods of extreme slowness or system unavailability. In order to determine the cause of the problem it may be necessary to take down certain modules or features for a time. There may also be times during the day when the system will have to be restarted to activate a change to system parameters. We appreciate the patience users have shown and we will continue to provide progress updates.

Blackboard Upgrade Planned for December 19-20
Blackboard will be unavailable December 19th and 20th. This time will be used for upgrades and testing of the fail-over procedures. Testing these procedures is a required part of disaster recovery planning. Blackboard will also be unavailable December 26th and 27th due to the Computer Center power outage. Instructors and students should plan accordingly. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Carol Bell at 7-6398.

Blackboard Password Change Set For August 21, 2007
A new password system has been put into place for Blackboard. Starting Tues., Aug 21, Blackboard users will need to use their POD password to log into Blackboard. (Blackboard users will continue to use the same Username). Note: click Read More for information on POD passwords.

The Blackboard system-wide update has been completed and Blackboard is now available.

Due to a system-wide update, Blackboard will be unavailable the week of May 21-May 25.

Default Course Availability in Blackboard to Change
Effective for the Fall '07 semester, all Blackboard courses will be set to available by default. This change will eliminate the need for faculty to make their course available for student access. If an instructor would like to make their course unavailable, this can still be done using the course setting option in the Control Panel.

Blackboard 7.2 to be Released
Blackboard version 7.2, which contains a number of new features, will be available for Fall '07 courses.

Blackboard Unavailable for Time on April 30, 2007
Blackboard will be unavailable on Monday, April 30, 2007 beginning at 12:00 PM (noon) for approximately one half hour due to necessary system maintenance.
