The Client Validation system that is currently present in the ResNet
(Residence Halls) and public spaces will be extended to the buwireless
network in order to replace the aging Bluesocket appliance. The change
over will occur on January 7, 2008.

All authentication on buwireless will now be done using the PODs
username/password combination.

Mac and Windows clients will be checked to confirm that up-to-date
antivirus software is installed before connecting to the buwireless
network. Additionally, Windows clients will be checked for all critical
updates as well as having automatic updates set to download and install.

Clients can "pre-validate" at verify.binghamton.edu.

Pre-validation will insure that your computer is up to date and ready to
connect to the campus network when buwireless begins using the Client
Validation System.
