Mail System Change on Sunday, September 23
Campus electronic mail is being converted to a Mirapoint mail appliance. The final cut over is scheduled to begin at approximately 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 23. The transition includes transferring user accounts, forwarding addresses, aliases, existing inboxes and SquirrelMail address books from the Cyrus server environment to Mirapoint. The major noticeable difference is a switch in authentication from Kerberos to the PodsID. Your mail password will now be the same as your Pods password.
If you use Outlook, Thunderbird or pine to read email on the current server, the only mandatory change is the password change. All your settings will work as you expect without modification. You should see nothing different when you read or compose email.
If you use SquirrelMail as your web mail client, you will now use webmail which is an entirely new product to this campus. You should find this to be a major improvement. The url for the new web mail service is http://webmail.binghamton.edu. You must authenticate to webmail with your PodsID and password.
Note: This change does not effect those who use the Exchange mail environment to take advantage of shared calendaring.
