Binghamton University Network
The general network consists of fiber optic cable connecting buildings, copper wire within buildings, and some 600 hubs, switches and routers to tie it all together. It is connected to the outside world through the public Internet and through the Internet2 research and education network.
Binghamton University also has a growing network of wireless access points on campus.
Faculty, staff, students, and other authorized users who are connecting to the Binghamton University network are expected to abide by the Binghamton University Computer and Network Usage Policy.
Connecting
Offices - Internet connections are available from most offices on campus.
Residence Halls - Internet connections are available in every Residence Hall room on campus.
Off Campus - Dial-in connections by modem at speeds up to 56Kbs are available 24 hours a day.
Wireless Access
A more detailed document about wireless and networked computing at Binghamton is also available from the Technology Training Center.Thanks to a growing network of wireless access points on campus, you no longer need to be tied to your desk to access the Internet. To get started you will need an 802.11b compliant wireless networking adapter (either built into your mobile device, or as an add-on card).
